Jennifer Welch Slams Trump Supporters, Accidentally Calls for Minority Business Boycott

Bravo Jennifer Welch Cracker Barrel

Jennifer Welch, a so-called Bravo “star” you have probably never heard of, just delivered one of the dumbest political hot takes of the year. On her own “I’ve Had It” podcast, Welch declared that Trump voters should stay out of Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants and stick to Cracker Barrel. She clearly thought she was making a bold anti-Trump statement. What she actually did was advocate for boycotting minority-owned businesses.

And let me be clear. I hate giving these stupid, no-name, barely-famous so-called stars any attention at all. People like Jennifer Welch make a career out of being mildly known in a very specific niche, then keep themselves relevant by saying something outrageous just to get headlines. It is the oldest reality TV trick in the book. Frankly, I would rather ignore her entirely, but sometimes a comment is so dumb, so hypocritical, that it deserves to be held up for everyone to see.

From Reality TV to Reality Disconnect

Welch did not stop at telling Trump voters to avoid these restaurants. She decided to add a personal insult for good measure. Her exact words were that these triple Trumpers should get your fat asses out of the Mexican restaurant. Get your fat asses over to Cracker Barrel because nobody wants to see your smug ass, teeny weeny pink arm, big gut around. Nobody wants to see that. This was not political commentary. It was a vulgar, mean-spirited tirade meant to humiliate people based solely on their politics.

Here is the reality she apparently missed. Many Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants in America are small, family-owned operations. They are often started by immigrants or first-generation Americans who put in long hours and take big financial risks to build something of their own. They operate on tight margins and rely on repeat business from the entire community. That includes Trump supporters.

Her Boycott Hits Small Businesses, Not Trump

When Welch tells millions of people to take their business elsewhere, she is not hurting Trump. She is hurting the very entrepreneurs she likely claims to support. These businesses do not survive on a handful of carefully selected “approved” customers. They survive because everyone in town feels welcome. Removing a chunk of their paying customers is the fastest way to put them in financial trouble.

What makes this worse is that Welch’s ban costs her nothing. She is not giving up a single meal or changing anything in her own life. She still gets to enjoy every multicultural restaurant she wants. The only people her demand would impact are the Trump supporters she is targeting and the minority-owned businesses that would lose their money. It is easy to sound bold when the consequences fall entirely on someone else.

Food Should Unite Us, Not Divide Us

This kind of rhetoric is exactly why political division in America keeps getting worse. Food has always been a way to connect across differences. You can disagree with someone’s politics and still share a table with them. In fact, some of the best conversations happen when people break bread together. That is how you see each other as human beings instead of party labels.

Restaurant owners know the truth. A paying customer is a paying customer. They care about whether you pay your bill, not about who you voted for. They care about keeping the lights on, making payroll, and staying in business another year. They know that political diversity among their customers is a good thing.

Helping Minority Businesses Means Welcoming All Customers

If Welch truly cared about minority-owned businesses, she would encourage everyone to support them. She would highlight their hard work, their cultural contributions, and their role in the community. She would show up, tip generously, and promote them to as many people as possible, regardless of political affiliation. That is what building bridges actually looks like.

Instead, she chose to insult millions of people and tell them to take their money elsewhere. That is not helping anyone. It is hurting the very people she claims to champion. And it reveals exactly what her priorities are — keeping her name in the headlines, even if it means throwing small business owners under the bus.

So here is my suggestion for Jennifer Welch. If you really want to make a difference, stop using your platform to divide people over where they eat. Start using it to encourage support for the hardworking entrepreneurs in your community. Eat at the Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants. Tip well. And remember that politics should never decide who gets to enjoy a good meal.

Because when politics controls the menu, nobody wins. Not the customers. Not the businesses. And certainly not the credibility of reality TV’s loudest voices.
