Why Ana Navarro Wants Gloria Gaynor to Snub the Kennedy Center Honors

Ana Navarro Snubs Gloria Gaynor Kennedy Center Honors

Ana Navarro, co-host of The View, is at it again. This time, she is urging legendary singer Gloria Gaynor to reject the Kennedy Center Honor that President Donald Trump is set to give her this year. Navarro claims she is a huge fan of Gaynor, even met her once at a Miami concert, and was thrilled when the singer handed her a keychain that played “I Will Survive.”

She wore that thing out during Trump’s first term. But now Navarro’s Trump Derangement Syndrome is pushing her to tell another person to refuse a career-defining honor simply because she does not like the man in the White House.

The Reason Ana Navarro Wants Gloria Gaynor to Snub

Navarro says Trump is a stain on the prestige of the award and cites Gaynor’s large LGB fanbase as a reason to turn it down. She says accepting an honor from Trump would be an insult to those fans.

The problem is that Navarro’s claim does not hold up. Trump has actually been friendly to the LGB community. He has welcomed openly gay Republicans into his administration, supported the appointment of Richard Grenell as the first openly gay cabinet-level official, and has publicly expressed support for gay rights on multiple occasions. That is a fact Navarro conveniently ignores.

Navarro says Gaynor’s music has been an inspiration to her. That makes it even more absurd for Navarro to now turn around and try to pressure Gaynor into making a political statement by refusing the honor. If Navarro truly respected Gaynor’s talent, she would let her accept recognition for her artistry without interference.

This is where Navarro’s logic unravels. She believes her personal feelings toward Trump should dictate someone else’s decision to accept a national honor. Ana Navarro is trying to turn Gloria Gaynor’s career achievement into a platform for her own political grievance. That is not just petty, it is selfish.

That’s how warped Ana’s thinking is right now. She’s burning up with a full-blown TDS fever, and this obnoxious cow actually thinks she can tell a legendary singer to reject an honor just because it’s from Trump. What an absolute sicko.

Listen up, Ana

Gloria Gaynor is not just a music legend; she is a force for good offstage. She has raised money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through her “Survive” fragrance, created IWillSurvive.org to inspire and support people facing hardship, earned a degree in behavioral sciences to better help at-risk youth, and headlined fundraisers for homelessness programs and children’s hospitals.

So, it is no mystery why President Trump would want to honor someone who has poured so much into uplifting others. Yet Ana Navarro’s take essentially says none of that matters. In her mind, decades of charity work and cultural impact should be tossed aside if the honor comes from Trump.

The Kennedy Center Honors Tradition

The Kennedy Center Honors began in 1978. They are given to artists whose work has made a lasting impact on American culture. The ceremony is held in Washington, D.C., each December and is considered one of the highest recognitions in the arts. The honorees represent music, theater, dance, television, and film.

This year’s honorees include Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Michael Crawford, Sylvester Stallone, and KISS. The event will be especially high profile because Trump personally announced the honorees and said he was involved in nearly every selection. In early 2025, Trump overhauled the Kennedy Center’s leadership, taking on the role of chairman and appointing Richard Grenell as interim executive director.

His changes caused an uproar among some in the arts community. Several figures resigned or ended partnerships with the Center, claiming they could not work under Trump’s leadership. Others staged events at the Center meant to protest the new management. But those actions do not change the fact that the Kennedy Center Honors are still about celebrating an artist’s lifetime contribution, not the political views of the current president.

Just A Little Sidenote:

Here’s a gem for you today. Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart honored Led Zeppelin with their stunning rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” at the Kennedy Center Honors. I could watch this performance on repeat. Hard to believe this video was posted 11 years ago.

Why Gloria Gaynor Should Accept

Gloria Gaynor is a music icon. “I Will Survive” is not just a disco anthem; it is a cultural touchstone for people who have faced hardship and come through stronger. Accepting a Kennedy Center Honor would add another layer to her legacy. The award is about her music, her impact, and her career. It is not about Ana Navarro or her vendetta against Trump.

Navarro’s demand puts Gaynor in a lose-lose situation. If she declines, she risks making a political statement she may not even want to make. If she accepts, she faces criticism from Navarro and others who believe they have the right to dictate her choices. The simplest and most dignified move would be to accept the honor and let her art speak for itself.

Trump and the LGB Community

As I’ve already pointed out, Trump’s record with the LGB community doesn’t fit Navarro’s cartoon version of events. That’s why her “do it for your LGB fans” argument falls flat. Those fans are more than capable of deciding for themselves if Gaynor should accept the Kennedy Center Honor. They don’t need Ana Navarro making the call for them.

  • Appointed Richard Grenell as U.S. Ambassador to Germany and later Acting Director of National Intelligence, making him the first openly gay Cabinet-level official in a Republican administration.
  • Publicly acknowledged and celebrated Pride Month in 2019 — the first Republican president to do so.
  • Supported a global initiative, led by Richard Grenell, to decriminalize homosexuality worldwide.
  • Nominated openly LGB judges to federal courts, including Mary Rowland and Patrick Bumatay.
  • Welcomed and worked with Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative LGB organization, during his presidency and campaign.
  • Attended and hosted events alongside LGB advocates, including fundraisers at Mar-a-Lago featuring prominent LGB figures.

Let the Artist Decide

At the end of the day, the Kennedy Center Honors are about celebrating an artist’s work. They are not meant to be a loyalty test for or against a sitting president. Navarro’s attempt to turn Gaynor’s moment into another anti-Trump stunt is both disrespectful and unnecessary.

Gloria Gaynor has survived the highs and lows of a decades-long career. She does not need Ana Navarro’s permission to accept an award. If she chooses to stand on that stage in December, it will be because she earned it. And she has.

If Ana really feels this strongly, she can plant herself outside the Kennedy Center as the stars arrive and put that big mouth to work screaming at them as they walk in. But we both know she won’t. She’s all talk and no follow-through.
