Remember The Sopranos? That show ended nearly 20 years ago, but Joe Pantoliano is still acting like he’s got mob problems—this time with America. The 73-year-old actor says he’s “uncomfortable” living in the U.S. now that Donald Trump is back in the White House. So naturally, he and his wife are shopping around Portugal.
Because nothing screams courage like fleeing the country when your side loses an election.
Pantoliano told Page Six that the political climate is so stressful, it’s affecting his ability to work. Honestly, how hard is it to deliver a dramatic one-liner? Maybe the real problem is that he can’t concentrate unless MSNBC is spoon-feeding him talking points between takes.

“Sopranos” alum Joe Pantoliano is the latest celebrity contemplating a move abroad after President Trump’s election.
“I’m so uncomfortable with the nature of what’s happening in our country, and I just want to run for the hills,” he exclusively told Page Six at the “Tucci in Italy” premiere earlier this week.
The 73-year-old, who has over 150 different acting credits, added that he’s finding it difficult to focus on his job while watching the news coming out of the current administration.
“It’s hard for me to think about people’s bulls–t like making a TV show,” he explained. “The world is on fire, it’s hard for me to concentrate.” – Page Six
The world’s on fire? Sure, Joey. And your grand plan is to outrun it… to Portugal? Sounds less like bravery and more like a rich old liberal looking for a guilt-free retirement where the Wi-Fi’s strong and no one asks hard questions. And there is nothing wrong with that, just call it what it is though – it isn’t political courage—it’s high-end escapism with a side of Chardonnay.
And where was this performative anxiety during the Biden years? When cities were overrun with crime, the southern border was a turnstile, and girls were losing scholarships to men in wigs? That was fine. Totally normal. But now that Trump’s back, Joey’s keeping cash at home like he’s prepping for the apocalypse—and calling his travel agent.

This isn’t about fear. It’s about losing. It’s about another aging celebrity throwing a fit because the country didn’t vote how Hollywood told us to. Instead of sticking around and contributing like the rest of us, they bail—then act like they’re leading a resistance movement from a Lisbon Airbnb.
Don’t bother swinging by his X account to wish him bon voyage—it’s on lockdown. Looks like Joey only allows praise from the boot-licking fan club. Can’t have any dissenting voices ruining his carefully curated echo chamber, now can we?
And of course, he’s not alone. Eva Longoria, Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres—always ready with a dramatic exit plan. Funny how they only “discover” America’s flaws when their team’s out of power. When the border’s open and criminals are coddled? Not a peep.
Here you go, Joey—straight from the heartland. This is what real Americans think. Spoiler: they’re not clutching passports and scanning Zillow listings in Lisbon.
The rest of us? We don’t flinch when things get tough. We love this country—no matter who’s in the White House. When the other side takes power, we don’t pack our bags—we dig in. We show up, speak out, and push back. Because this place is worth fighting for, even when it’s a mess. Especially when it’s a mess.
So if Joe wants to go, by all means—go. But don’t call it bravery. Call it what it is: a tantrum wrapped in a travel brochure.
We’ll be right here, standing our ground.
